Welcome to Let Felix Hit!

This year's American League Cy Young race, generally thought to be between Felix Hernandez and C.C. Sabathia is  a litmus test for the current state of baseball writers.  Hernandez leads the A.L. in many major categories - including ERA, innings, and strikeouts.  For the Sabermetrically inclined, he's second in xFIP and third in WAR on Fangraphs, trailing pitchers with many fewer innings pitched and well ahead of Sabathia in both categories.

Really, Felix is way ahead in everything that counts, except wins.  Yes, wins, that stat that counts what your hitters do, what your bullpen does, and can even change after a pitcher has left the game.  But if you're savvy enough to find Let Felix Hit, you're savvy enough to know that wins are a pretty poor approximation of pitching effectiveness.

This blog is a tongue-in-cheek campaign to get Mariners management to allow Felix to take his hacks up there at the plate, so that the Mariner's might finally generate a respectable level of offense in his starts.  Think I'm crazy?  Check out the tabs for "The Competition" and "The Case".  Letting Felix hit might not be as crazy as you think!
